OK, I’m going to intoduce a new section called “Just watched”. It’s quite simple, I’m going to watch something, either a movie, OVA, series, or ongoing, and write up my opinion of it. It’s going to contain some spoilers, of course. I hope you like it.
The thing I’m going to watch will be chosen at complete random out of a 1500+ titles list, using a random number generator.
The post itself will contain a synopsis, my thoughts on the story and charaters, and a grading. Of course, it’s all 100% subjective, but I’d appreciate any type of comment.
The grading system will be split into the following categories:
Story: Well… what is the show about? Does it sound interesting? Does it sound stupid? Keep in mind, the story doesn’t have to be perfect for the show to be enjoyable. You can have the simple story of “fighting tournamnet”, and have the show still be awesome to watch. Because what really matters is…
Execution: You can have the blandest idea in the world, if you make it fun to watch, I’m a fan. How were the scenes show? Does it look exciting? Is it predictable? Have you already guessed who the killer is? All these things take from and increase enjoyment.
Charatcers: Who cares if you have an award winning story, if nobody gives two shits about the characters? Oh no, random guy no.23 was shot to death. If the charatcers are static and two dimensional (no pun intended), we’re not going to be invested in the story.
Visual: this will include the artwork, the charater design, the effects and everything about the video part of the production.
Acting: This one’s for the voice acting, of course. We’ll talk a little about the voice acting of the characters, and weather the artist sounded geniune or not.
Sound: Was the music awesome? Are you humming Towa no Kizuna right now? Is that how a giant laser cannon would sound?
Final grade – Enjoyment: This is it, the big one. How much did I enjoy this show? Was I yelling at the screen, cheering for the characters, or was I checking my e-mail during the “epic” conclusion?
I personally think I'll enjoy this new section. How you explained the process was enjoyable to me already, so I'm sure I'll look forward to it.

Well, not exactly. Even though they can never really be objective, reviews try to steer away from pure subjectivity. I'm just going to write exactly what I felt while watching it, with not even a glimpse of objectivity.

ReplyDeleteSounds interesting. Nowadays, I hardly watch much of what I want. So having some opinions might make it easier to start the process of actually watching it.

Here is whuts gunna happened ... everything you watch will make yer eyes bleed and yer ears fall off! then you will discover you like more anime genres then ye thought! (I watch at least the first ep of as many fansubbed shows as I can to see if I will by the dvd when licensed (BD's now)) Lets hear those review/thoughts!
